Kids Helping Kids : Kids Helping Kids Flyer
Mohawk's Kids Helping Kids program helps support the Macomb Intermediate School District's (MISD) Education Project for Homeless Children and Youth, which works to ensure that Macomb County students who are experiencing homelessness, can enroll, regularly attend, and succeed in school. Each fall, the PTO sends out flyers to all students offering an opportunity to receive five themed cut-outs for a donation of $5.00. The children enjoy decorating the cut-outs and seeing them displayed on the walls of the school; the Mohawk families also enjoy seeing the halls decorated with the themed cut-outs; and, the MISD appreciates the donation to assist the homeless students.
Vision HOPE – Spring of HOPE
Vision HOPE is a non-profit organization that sponsors Champions for Life Kids’ Camp each summer. This camp offers abused, neglected, and abandoned foster children from our local communities an opportunity to participate in non-competitive and non-threatening activities while being paired with an adult counselor. Many of the children who participate will have their first birthday party ever while at camp. The memories of their experiences will aid in healing and giving HOPE in the life of each child. This year, in December, Mohawk will sponsor a holiday hat day to raise money for Vision HOPE to be used towards purchasing desperately needed items for the children who attend the camp each summer. Items vary depending on current camp needs, but may include clothing, toiletries, prizes, small gifts, books, and gift cards.
